If you are like me and a lot of women I know, this has been a constant, nagging struggle with seemingly no end in sight.  The thought of going on another diet is just too exhausting to even consider. 

 

But you are not ready to throw in the towel just yet…you do want to be healthy.  So we spend months, if not years, at this impasse.  Our bodies and our desires do not match.  It is uncomfortable being in this land of opposites.  Before we know it, years have gone by and we wonder why we didn’t do something about this sooner.

 

The thing with being uncomfortable is that after years of it, it begins to feel normal.  We do not recognize it has uncomfortable anymore.  It becomes the norm.  It’s only when we look at pictures of ourselves that we truly see who we are.  (Mirrors lie!)  We can’t believe that is us.  How did we let this happen?  How did we get this way? 

 

Thankfully, there are answers to those questions and also a SOLUTION to getting healthy! 

 

Getting healthy and fit does not have to be something you dread!  It can be something you actually enjoy.  It is possible!  Sounds crazy, I’ll admit, but it’s true.  I know because I have done it.  After years of settling and putting up with less than what I wanted in life, I finally figured out what was truly stopping me.  The answer is simple.  Let me explain…

 

The journey of weight loss and food addiction is a special one.  It’s not like the other addictions to alcohol, drugs, or gambling….  We are human and need to eat to survive.  We are faced several times a day with our issue and addiction.  We have to re-learn our relationship with food in order to lose weight and get healthy. 

 

For years we have been shown a path to weight loss…its right in front of us.  It is diet and exercise.  It’s reducing the number of calories in and increasing the calories out through exercise. 

 

While this is a helpful path; it is not THE path.  You see, the diet and exercise path dead ends into a high brick wall.  Ultimately, we come to the end of the path and see this huge wall, laugh and say “yeah right”!  We turn around, head back and begin regaining all the weight we had lost. 

 

What we didn’t realize is that the diet and exercise path is the correct path AFTER we have gone down the mindset path.  Diet and exercise are the means but they are not the solution. 

 

The solution is discovering WHY we chose to cope with life by using food.  The solution is fixing the mind. We must become aware and claim our importance. Then not only can we go down that diet and exercise path, our minds will know how to climb that brick wall and let us continue on our healthy way.

 

So, the mindset path has been hiding, waiting and hoping to be found.  It is ready and willing to help us.  We just need to take that first step.  Are you ready to go down this path?
